Prepping For Palma

We arrived in Palma de Mallorca, Spain earlier this week to prepare for the Princess Sofia Regatta that begins on Monday.  We have had four great days of training on the Balearic Sea.  Each day presented different wind and wave conditions, including some ocean swell. The training time has been extremely valuable.  We had a lot of rust to knock off since we had not sailed together since we won the Bronze Medal at the Miami Olympic Classes Regatta in January.  We are looking forward to the subtle improvements that come along with more time on the water and more comfort in the boats.

The weather outlook for Monday’s racing is a 15 knot breeze from the N/NE.  This offshore direction is usually extremely shifty and puffy on our course, which is tucked up against the directly in front of the large Cathedral in the city of Palma.  (This definitely makes for some picturesque racing!)

A big thank you to the British match race team for providing the Elliott boats and some great on the water training time.  Also a thank you to our US Sailing Team AlphaGraphics coach Dave Dellenbaugh who joined us on the water today and will be coaching during the Princess Sofia next week.

We will keep you posted on this week's racing,
