Women’s Match Racing, a new discipline for the 2012 Olympic Games, provides inshore, high intensity racing which optimizes spectator and sponsor potential. Leading up to the Olympics, Team 7 Match Race will compete in the Women’s and Open World Cup Circuits throughout North America, Europe, and Australia.
Mission:
• Become the Best women’s match racing team through hard work, dedication, and respect for ourselves and others.
Sailing Goals:
• Be the top ranked women’s match racing team in the ISAF Women’s World Rankings in two years.
• Win a Gold Medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The Olympic Trials:
There will be two stages to our Olympic Trials, and each event is only open to U.S. teams. The first stage will be in Miami, FL, Oct 26-30, 2011. At this event the top 4 teams will qualify for the final Trials. The final Trials will be in Weymouth, England (the sailing venue for the 2012 Games) in May 2012. At this event, the winner qualifies for the one U.S. spot at the Olympic Games, July 29-August 11, 2012.
